@Cerridwyn I ordered penne for myself and for my parents, but I screwed up their ZIP by one digit. I’m almost hoping theirs never shows now that I ended up with 100# of it…

I loved every part of pastadrop including the first day crash. Who would have though people would get so excited. I wound up buying each week. (Most of it went to my pasta buddy. Her poor mailman must hate me.) The ditch and run at the food bank drop box was awesome! Thanks @snapster!
I ordered one every week ( 2 last week ) and it was a fun and exciting event every time. 3 of them went to my house and 4 to friends and family. So far one friend thought it was hilarious, still waiting on the others to ship but I know they’ll be a big hit. I gotta day though this is some good quality pasta!
The absolute honest-to-god best part was the look on the faces of my local food bank volunteers when I dropped off 30 pounds of penne on them. Their cupboard have been bare since COVID hit, and you’d have thought it was Christmas for them when I pulled the boxes out of the car.
This was a failed experiment on my eyes, since I ordered the first one and waited to see what exactly was going on. Three more drops went by and I didn’t bother ordering anything without really knowing what the deal was.
I did order a second drop for my parents after I received my first one, and that still hasn’t even shipped.
@snapster Well yeah, it obviously was a success in terms of selling pasta. And clearly people enjoyed it so I’m not saying it was a complete failure. It just didn’t deliver it’s full potential. Hell, half (super guessing here) of your drops have yet to be delivered which include a coupon that will never be able to be used. (Which in a way kind of turns into false advertisement…) The idea of getting people to “pay it forward” and create an amazing pasta chain reaction is moot.
Anyway, I’m just being critical because I love you guys and the whole concept itself was amazing.
@snapster So, as an experiment by your gang, what did you learn (other than Pitney-Bowes may not be the best choice as a shipping partner)? Unless, of course, what you learned is proprietary grist for the mill for future endeavors.
We received pastadrop and still have not figured out from who. But we have laughed with friends, shared with friends, and enjoyed the whole process. I decided today who I would like to send it to only to find out it is sold out and won’t be back. Thank you Pasta Drop for the unexpected joy you gave us.
The best part was getting a call from my mother in law… and her explaining that a not so thrilled postman had just dropped off 5 20 lb boxes at her house, and that she now had to pull the boxes in the house and that it wasn’t funny. I shouldn’t have done that… Upon looking at my shipments… the order number didn’t match any of my orders. I’m not sure the tracking numbers matched on my boxes either. But…
My MIL got a 100LB drop. I didn’t do it. I am blamed for it and I can’t wait for the one that we did do to arrive :P)
Well, I made out more than okay - 40 lbs of spaghettini and 100 lbs of penne, which, for $40, works out to $0.28571428571429/lb, and it’s pretty good pasta.
Factor in the $50 coupons, and basically I was paid $10 for ordering 140 lbs of pasta, bewildering my receipient neighbor, and annoying the mail deliverer.
I would’ve ordered more, but two of the spaghetinni bags were broken (still waiting to see how CS will resolve) and so wanted to see how the penne arrived, and by then it was over
The coupons were great, and I actually bought stuff I wanted on Meh, Mediocritee and Casemates. Now if I can find something, anything on Morningsave or Sidedeal …
@stolicat Users who have reported contact from CS have received a sorry and that’s it. One user posted their e-mail from CS which said the CS rep was directly told “NO” when asked if they could send out replacement to customer.
@Raider I had requested a possible replacement or refund, and after a slow-moving but effective process, I was informed by the very nice CS person that they had nothing to replace the damaged bags with but did give me a refund of the order which was quite nice.
@stolicat I sent CS pictures of my box and bag. Box was torn open on the corner with the pasta sticking out, half the spaghettini was missing. Couldn’t get a replacement, but did get a refund. CS was awesome!
My wife got a drop today (from me) and it’s our 4th delivery. The mailman asked me “What kind of business are you in?”. Not sure what to do with 10 cases of Pasta…we may have gone overboard. I hope my Sister-in-Law appreciates the ones we sent her…
