Yes I can cancel, But the funds are now immediately on hold for days.
As someone who has been in banking for 27 years, 10 of those in the credit card industry, I have grown to dislike debit cards and favor credit cards for this reason.
It is my opinion that you should put all purchases on a credit card instead of a debit card for dispute resolution at the minimum. There are other reasons too but that should be reason enough.
If you are so close to your credit limit on your credit card that a $20 authorization is going to hurt your ability to make another purchase, you might have other problems. Your FICO score is partly calculated based upon your balance in relation to your credit limits. If you’re too close, you’re considered over extended and you lose FICO points.
In worst case scenario, you can contact your bank to have an authorization removed if you have proof that the order has been canceled. I used to do that for people when I first started in the industry back in 1990 so they probably still do that today. Also, many banks allow you to go over your credit limit by a certain percentage – depending on your risk assessment. Authorizations that were just holding credit but never charged do not appear as part of your balance so wouldn’t be held against you for credit limit overage fees – as long as the charge is never posted.
@liammc@RiotDemon@Star2236 the code “pastadrop” works for the buyer on sites other than pastadrop. It is a one-time thank you for participating. A $5 code for pastadrop is inside the package and works for the receiver, valid on their first use of pastadrop only.
@mongoose7000 upon using PastaDrop the first time, the code pastadrop works for $10 off on other sites from the account used. An email is generated about an hour after your first purchase but this detail here is all you need.
I have a coupon code that can be used once and it has to be used by 100 people a week. I would like to know when do the drops change? Monday at Midnight or Sunday at 1pm I have been late to the party two weeks in row.
I was confused and just left the shipping address as my address thinking maybe it would prompt for where I wanted to actually send it. I know, I know… Probably dumb, but usually shipping address is used to verify the credit card transaction.
To my eldest son who foresaw the crisis and started stockpiling supplies in January. His siblings gave him a hard time until about mid-March. Now he can make chicken riggies. (That’s probably an Upstate NY thing.)
@synapses11 You do realize most of the people buying this are sending it as a gag, right? It’s not supposed to make economic sense, or really any kind of sense. The only benefit right now is making your $20 back in the $50 worth of coupon codes.
I was thinking of being sensible and waiting to see what the first order was like and whether my neighbor and I could eat that much before ordering more - BUT - I see they both have the same delivery dates making me think there is going to a landslide of noods June 1-8 and everyone just loves penne rigate so …
Sent some to my brand new roommate. Forgot to change the ship to name the first time, so I had to cancel and order a second time. I still get coupons, right? I’m not here just for the coupons; I like pasta and sending stuff to friends too, but… I mean, look, you bribed me to support the casemates kickstarter, so obviously I’m a sucker for a good coupon code. But I did also end up buying wine that one time. It was bubbly.
@Oneroundrobb also, I forgot to uncheck billing address is same as shipping address. Is there gonna be an issue if the billing address has a different name than the credit card (but the correct address otherwise)?
My sister has been making hand sanitizer, hundreds of face masks, and legit professional-level bread and baked goods for her neighbors who still can’t get bread regularly (she lives in a rural area and their grocery stores are still a little dire), and she refuses to accept money for any of this. The least I can do is give her a completely unknown (but hopefully ridiculously large) amount of pasta for her to shovel at her teenagers as a thank you for her work.
The spaghettini I ordered hasn’t even shipped yet. Why would I buy more pasta when I’m not even sure how much my last order is gonna get? Maybe sell an appropriate amount and become a “pasta of the week” club…
@snapster So, what if I had a major brain spark and realized I should have ordered this to be sent to our local Food Bank instead of to my home. Since they haven’t shipped yet, can we change the delivery address?
MorningSave still has 20-pound shipments of various pasta shapes for $34 listed (although they’re sold out and have been for weeks). It wouldn’t be like Meh to sell half that on PastaDrop for $20, and given the MS packages are two 10-pound packages, I’m leaning toward these being 20-pound deliveries, too.
I think it is they have X lbs of pasta, and Y people sent noods. So each recipient gets X/Y amount of pasta, whatever that is. The endgame is for Mercatalyst to have zero pasta in its warehouse.
Since the webiste won’t let me send noods to anyone else as advertised, I’ve ordered me some of these Schrödinger’s Noods and I’ll have to reship these fuckers myself. At least VMP is saving me from paying twice to ship them. I feel sorry for anyone that doesn’t have VMP or Mehmbership.
Mehbe this question has been asked and ignored already, but does everyone get the same amount of noods? Or do different people get different amounts? I guess that’s part of the secret process of the pastadrop. Hey, mediocrebot! Do you stick penne in your cornhole?
@adambclay which reminds me. Baguette is a word with many meanings in France.
It can mean skinny loaf of bread, as it does here, but it can also be used as a euphemism for penis, chopsticks are called baguettes, legs are sometimes called baguettes, a policeman’s truncheon is a baguette… And a magicians wand is a baguette.
That’s right… In Harry Potter books in France the wizards pointed their baguettes at each other to cast spells. (Lord Voldemort’s middle name was “Elvis” in the French Harry Potter to make the anagram work in French).
Apologies if already suggested, but it would be fun to drop a random or targeted Meh user; just would have to figure out how to keep their shipping address private and not become sender’s default address.
